THE PHONY "MAPUTI VS. MORENA" Issue & Other NONSENSE

UPDATE: This song didn't become a hit but I think my discussion on the artificial issue of Maputi vs. Morena non-sense was a classic, it dealt frontally with the contrived conflicts which are non-issues in real lives outside artificial media-driven politics. The arguments presented here could be applied to other artificial divisive political issues like Western vs. Korean looks (this one takes the prize for being the most laughable because it is clearly non-sense, comedy skit from the get-go).

This song has a nice beat but the lyrics are kinda ignorant. Actually in the Philippines, attraction doesn't depend on skin color, it depends on the looks of the individual. There are many fair-skinned individuals here with bad features who are wallflowers in every party they attend. Narrow-minded lyrics such as these play right into the hands of the pretentious bunch who try to imitate (as usual) the American socio-political trends and force-fit them into the Philippine context without knowing that those foreign advocacies just gave a false sense of inclusion to minorities who were trapped into the labels forced upon them because allegedly their rights were being fought for (read why Blacks are more mired into poverty as ever and why the turmoil in Ferguson, Baltimore and other areas are flaring up). True, we read minorities in the media are improving, but is there a big change outside the glare of the media spotlights (btw, the media are owned by the sponsors of these political activities so we can't blame why keen observers see this as just a zarzuela). In Tagalog, we call that "kampo-kampo", dividing the 'morenas" and the "maputi" into camps, then make the "camps" fight each other as if there is even something to fight for. In outdated politics in the West, these irrelevant fights (in conjunction with other concocted  fights like Rich vs. Poor, Gay vs. Hetero, Secular vs. Religious, etc) are seen as being fostered to heaten up the socio-political scene so the low-classes fight each other while those upper in the hierarchy are shielded from view.

This also plays into hands of the baliws (insane) who delude themselves that just because they belong to the fair camp, they are above the morena no matter how beautiful the latter is. We often hear a certain sector spouting "Basta maputi, maganda" and they actually fool themselves that people won't notice their bad features and have the gall to equate themselves with the more celebrated Spanish mestizas (who are loved for their beautiful features, not necessarily for the skin color because Latins are relatively darker than Germanic types). Of course, people can always see they have bad features, we have the whole internet for comparison as to what is beautiful. That's why when they tried this laughable campaign in Southeast Asia to pit the Western type vs. the Korean type, most of the stars even of purist countries like Indonesia and Thailand became Western hybrids because it was simply a hare-brained comedy skit right from the start.

In the Philippines, as regards to beauty, there is never Morena vs. Maputi. That's dumb. Either you are ugly or you are not.

Janella Salvador - Harana Na Na Na Na (Official Lyric Video)

I love featuring Janella. At her age, she's already pretty and oozing with sex appeal. The song she is singing here sucks but just lower the volume or better, just mute it. Best consider this as a photoshoot: the photos used here really showed the budding beauty that is Janella.

BTW, Janella is a good singer with a nice voice. I can imagine her singing in an international pop stage someday. She is definitely more beautiful than Rihanna or Ariana Grande. It's just a matter of giving her a nice song to sing.

Maja Salvador - Love Me, Kill Me (Official Lyric Video)

More and more, this blog has started evolving from its origins of just being a blog jukebox so you must have noticed the usual mv's have become more scarce by the day. They have become mostly fillers, but they actually receive much less hits than the "nosy" posts.

But we welcome Maja's music videos anytime. This happens to be a nice photoshoot, consisting some of the most breathtaking shots of the sexy actress. No, it's not true that my former-lesbian friend threatened to strangle me if I won't feature Maja. My friend is serious, she's not into girls anymore no matter how sweet-smelling Maja obviously is. My friend has a boyfriend already, don't ask me how. Just watch the photoshoot of Maja, she's singing the background music.

JANELLA SALVADOR - Kapag Tumibok Ang Puso (Official Lyric Video)

Well, I love featuring Janella because it tickles me one of our future stars is gonna be pretty and sexy (sex appeal can't be faked by plastic surgery as proved by neutered trying-hards elsewhere in Villainlandia). I just hope all our stars will be beautiful and sexy as well. Frankly, in a land obsessed with beauty, there's no reason why the crossed-eyed and the horsey-faced should even dare appearing on our screens.

Too bad this song was recorded when the Starmusic people were still stuck in their clueless stage. But there's hope, the latest MV of Miss Constantino hinted of a changing breeze.

The Juans - Atin Ang Mundo [Official Lyric Video with Chords]

This song has possibilities, I wonder how it would be like in the actual music video. Meanwhile, let's start the wait by learning the chords...

James Reid featuring Pio - Musikaw [Official Music Video] PHILPOP 2015

Filipino music videos have finally come of age. This is as world-class as you can get. I just want to restate the obvious: Viva has resurrected OPM and it just revs up from here.  This is the second year that we are making good sleek music videos, and it gets better. Great music, great production design, great lighting, great editing (Bravo, no lag moments, really crisp!), great dancing, and most important, great-looking singers! .

Caleb Santos - You are Mine

My former lesbian friend called up to warn me she's not going to read my blog any more  if I don't have more "of those investigative artcles". She growled, "Dapat pangatawanan mong intellectual tabloid ka." That was a nice one, I never thought I was into aspiring to be an "intellectual tabloid" or anything.

BTW, you read it right- former lesbian. She said girls these days don't wash anymore ("nakakasulasok" was her word) that whenever she thinks now of girls she can't feel horny but instead, she wanna puke. I'm not nosy so I don't know how she's faring these days.

That gets me thinking though. Is that part of the reason we see many gay these days?

Seriously, I think she just chose the wrong girls (Or too hypersensitive nose? Low threshold for bad smell?). One girl you won't associate with bad smell "there" is Shy Carlos. She looks so pretty and fresh in this video.

Nice song, makes one imagine sweet-smelling girls.

Ramiru Mataro and Donnalyn Bartolome - Walang Hanggan (Official Music Video) PHILPOP 2015

I'm amazed at the variety of the music videos for the PHILPOP 2015. We also have a cute one. Great graphics, great colors, great direction, great singers. PHILPOP is turning out to be a great party this year..

JANELLA SALVADOR - Ganyan Talaga (Official Lyric Video)

No doubt about it, Janella is pretty. From the looks of it, the next batch of teen idols will sustain the popularity of the current trailblazing crop. The way was already made for them in many parts of the world, Let's just hope no ugly dachshund passes through. Sometimes Pinoys mistake Diversity with being a slow-witted sucker (uto-uto). I can just see the world running scared if suddenly a cross-eyed, a hooked jaw or a horsey face make pa-cute to them.

Janella is really pretty but the song kinda sucks. Even my mother quipped," pang-kapanahunan pa ni Vilma Santos ito". I hope ABS-CBN should send the Starmusic bigwigs for a Reorientation Seminar at Viva so that they realize there's a new sleek wind blowing in the Philippines. Let's not be hobbled by hackneyed notions of a masa this time & not be led through the nose by outdated inertia.

PRE-VACATION NOTES: James Reid's Music Video Preview 2: MUSIKAW

I'll be on a week-long vacation. We may still post but it will be irregular. A friend just presented me with a new blog template with 3 columns: one for my articles (interestingly, the local hits skyrocket when I have articles under my "Scandals & Opininons" label); second, for the new music videos, clips, etc; third for the old sidebar of permanent display of Pinoy hits. Actually, I kinda like the present one, where the proposed first & second columns mix up and just bounce off the posts with low hits and let the popular ones stay longer. The Philippines produces many new music videos but on the average, I usually choose only one out of 15-20 videos released at a time, that's how high the rejection rate. Some have good songs but poorly done video, bad songs but good videos, some have good songs & video but eyesore singers, etc. I give wider latitude to the new ones & I get kidded by my friends for being lenient but I'm stricter with the more famous ones, they should not be cavalier with their status. Just enjoy this clip for the meantime: from the looks of it, another great music video from Viva....

Nadine Lustre and Kean Cipriano - Sa Ibang Mundo (Official Music Video) PHILPOP 2015

Kean Cipriano is one of the better-looking singers but he had some unflattering angles here. Meanwhile, Nadine looked fantastic mostly, her frames were taken cared of. For a change, she looked better than her partner, at least in a video. Another great music video from Viva.

James Reid's New Music Video Preview: MUSIKAW

Blogging is mostly fun but it could be testy at times. My foreign readers are a priority to me, but they are mostly Jadine fans because whenever I miss a post on James Reid for two days, there would be a noticeable drop in clicks from the South American countries. But you post even the shortest video and, as if they have their own communication though they are scattered in many countries, they are suddenly back. LOL.

Anyway, we've been receiving emails asking for the next installment of our SCANDALS series. Unfortunately, I can only do those when I have the time. I now allot about 30 minutes for the blog per day, doing an "investigative" article takes more than an hour. The next chapters of our SCANDALS series will take longer because we are now at the part where I have to tackle the Racism issues & that's not really fun, we have to tread lightly there because it can get sensitive if we do it haphazardly. Pinoys are not racists and it really saddens me to realize some people are quite active in that kind of game. The only consolation is that the type of racism we have here is actually laughable if you really think about it because the racists are not exactly the type who should even be in the business of pretending to be racists. But it still saddens me because it is all so useless if you get what I mean.

LAOAG SOUVENIRS: James Reid - Bonfire Love Song [LIVE]

Julie Anne San Jose - Tidal Wave LIVE

Julie Anne certainly has the looks & the voice of a major pop idol like Rihanna & Beyonce. This song is a a level-up addition to her repertoire, This is for international release, and Julie Anne is in for the long haul. I bet composers du jour Thyro, Yumi & Bojam have the exact type of songs in storage which will  propel Julie Anne past Rihanna & Beyonce. LOL,  let's think big for a change.

Marlisa

Marlisa Punzalan is a 15 year-old Fil-Australian who won the 2014 Australian X-Factor. Joyce of Perth, Western Australia sent the X-Factor links, we added her homecoming performance in one of the local TV shows.
Fil-Aussies are hot everywhere these days- Marlisa in Australia itself while James Reid is already a superstar in the Philippines.
