Remember the Pinay singer who joined ROMANIA GOT TALENT? Resciebelle Santiago sings "Hello"

My friends usually just email their recommendations & it's up to me to choose what to post. I refrained from featuring music videos for a time & I have a bunch cluttering my inbox. Suddenly I felt like opening a few & when I got to this, I felt something got unstuck: I did finish the song, carried away by the breathless notes & I thought I finally realized what was the thing that I couldn't put a finger on for a long time that got me very curious about birit in the first place. Birit lifts you up & you tend not to want to come down even after the last note has died. It's like a drug whose effects you won't want to dissipate just yet.

It was the finals but I couldn't care less who won. Resciebelle Santiago has more class than some of our more famous divas, one of which I happened to just witness squeaking in a recent act.

Jonalyn Viray - McArthur Park LIVE

Definitely one of the best biriteras around.

BIRIT YESTERDAY, TODAY & TOMORROW: Gwyneth Dorado, Jonalyn & Regine LIVE

I wanted to title this "3 Generations of Birit" but Regine is still too sexy to represent the "first generation" among the three. I just wanted to say that with the appearance of the 10-year old Gwyneth, Birit is in safe hands.

Morissette Amon Chandelier LIVE

Birit or not , she  delivers.

Whistle Showdown: Angeline, Kyla, Morissette in "Infinity"

This blog started as a joke, but in the end, the joke was on me. Funny. Already, my taste in music is evolving. I used to snub these kinds of songs but to my "amazement", I've already been developing  a taste for Birit. The higher it soars, the better.
You know what, Birit is the hard-core version of kilig. Tipong mapapaangat pa puwitmo pag ang taas na ng nota! LOL!

EXTREME ROCK BIRIT: AEGIS - in HONG KONG & TOKYO, JAPAN

The so-called "National Band". Youtube is replete with the fanmade videoclips of their concerts  in many cities of the world, entertaining the Pinoy diaspora in small & big venues.  They gave the Philippines some of the most powerful contemporary songs, but unfortunately, wanting are the sleek music videos which could have perpetuated the power of their music in a more sophisticated light.
This is Birit at its most hard-core.

MORISSETTE - Di Mapaliwanag (Official Music Video)

BIRIT-SOPRANO MASH-UP IN, OF ALL PLACES, A COOKING SHOW: Regine Velasquez and Gerphil Flores - I DREAMED A DREAM

Frankly, these two should have an album.

HALO [Highest Version] - Regine Velasquez [With F5 to G5 Belted Note]

Fortunately, we found this video. It was part of the preceding video featuring Regine with Gwyneth, Julie Anne, Maya & Frencheska, but the part which featured Regine was defective, the frame froze. Birit at its most powerful.

Gwyneth Dorado & Julie Anne San Jose, with Regine Velasquez, Frencheska Farr & Maya LIVE

BIRIT With F#5 [Highest Version]: Rather Be - Regine Velasquez

My music is mostly Alternative Rock & Electronic Dance Music, particularly Dubstep, but here we go continuing with my new-found  fascination for Birit.

BIRIT ACOUSTIC: Regine Velasquez -" Ulan" & Many More

I'm always on the look-out for the STRENGTHS of  Philippine showbiz that we can incorporate into the PHILIPPINE BRAND- we have our now-famous multi-racial physical looks, our hot teen Pinoy love teams (Jadine, Kathniel & Lizquen) and many more. We can include there BIRIT. Birit doesn't work only with the usual Soul vocal contortions, it melds well in a showdown with other throat hystrionics like Opera or Rock. You'll be amazed, it gives goose bumps when done in cool, acoustic style. For a lazy weekend with a young Regine Velasquez in a somewhat dated set.

BIRIT-SOPRANO SHOWDOWN: Regine Velasquez & Gerphil Flores - Love Story

GMA hit upon an original idea: pitting that very Pinoy vocal acrobatics called Birit with classical Opera ballad. They should do this on a regular basis. Goose bumps galore.

BIRIT EXTREME: Extreme Vocal Acrobatics of the Young Regine Velasquez / 20 Years Hence with "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You")"

Well, the first video is a nice Introductory Course to Pinoy Birit, the national vocal acrobatic form of singing. Here, lessons are given herself by the Dominatrix of the past two decades of Pinoy Pop Extreme.

"On The Wings Of Love" music video by Kyla

Sheng Belmonte - Ulan [Official Music Video with lyrics]

Title: Ulan / Rain / Lluvia

NOTE: I'm re-releasing this. I'll be on vacation for two weeks so the update will not be daily, it all depends on my "sober" time.

MORISSETTE - 'Di Mapaliwanag (Official Lyric Video)

Title:  Di Maipaliwanag  /  Can Not Be Explained  /  No se puede explicar

LOL, so a Starmusic video hits it sometimes. Some may find Morissette's whistling as cheap Mariah Carey parody but I prefer to see it as a ritzier  take-off from the more original Tuvan throat singing/  whistling instead. But what I found really heartening is that somebody in the ABS-CBN music video production team gets what a music video is about: each frame counts, and while Morissette may need South Korean plastic surgical tricks to transcend some of her predicaments, the pale decolorized effects succeeded: in producing a sleek piece.
