Janine Gutierrez of GMA: Teen Star

We received many emails who claimed Julie Anne San Jose is also one of the few beautiful teen idols of GMA. I agree, I've been featuring Ms. San Jose's music videos all along, just check the sidebar to access them.

I have been criticizing the "alalay" look of the teen idols of GMA compared to the big teen love teams of the moment - Jadine, Kathniel, Lizquen- who all belong to the rival station, ABSCBN. An amiable lady sent this info (plus link to the video) to "decry" there are beautiful teen stars in GMA like Elmo Magalona, Derrick Monasterio & Janine Gutierrez. Janine is pretty alright, good for GMA. GMA noted first the potential of the youth market, it produced more primetime youth-directed teleseryes but they came & went with nobody remembering who appeared in those. Generally, only a few of the GMA stars have household recall and if you noticed,  those who have, like Marian Rivera & Carla Abellana, didn't come from its talent programs like Starstruck & Protege. I kinda feel these two programs are responsible for the poor quality of the stars of GMA: performers with so-so looks enter the system, all on the basis of supposed "popularity" which can be easily manipulated anyway. Nobody really made it big so it is amusing to note what for are these "popularity" contests when they turned out to be not popular anyway, they only lowered the quality of the stars Pag marami masyado ang bulok na kamatis, masisira ang buong basket kaya tuloy kokonti ang sikat. To its credit, ABSCBN doesn't dare cast those types in its primetime: look at the stars of the current teleserye of GMA which is being torn to smithereens by Kathniel. With their ordinary looks, wouldn't its young stars be better off  playing the roles of the barkada of Kathniel instead? Just saying...
