CAUTIVA/HANGGANG MAKITA KANG MULI opens on September 11 at 6:45 PM OROMARTV Ecuador


There are two places in Latin America which I'm planning to visit but still haven't gotten around to fulfilling it. Quito in Ecuador & Valparaiso in Chile, mainly for their historical areas. But I've long started enjoying them through their cuisines. Ecuadorian & Chilean cuisine might not be familiar in Asia but I whip up my own versions, and that's often because there are no restos offering them here. I've long used avocado as a bread spread the Chilean way (palta) & instead of silogs, I often prepare bistec a lo pobre (a beef, fried egg, potato fries & onions ensemble, a dish Chile has in common with Peru), besides many of its humongous parriladas. But my favorites are the plaintain dishes of Ecuador. They come as dumplings, soup, empanadas, etc. I haven't tasted the originals but I so loved my versions (taken from the internet) that the few times I find time to cook, I cook them 50% of the time. 

Now, Cautiva will be shown in Ecuador. I can see they will be slurping Caldo de bolas de verde or Sango de verde while watching it because it will be shown at 6:45 PM, just in time for dinner. Starting September 11.

    1. Sango de Verde-Ecuadorian Green Plantain Stew

      Ingredients:
      3 green plantains, peeled and cut in chunks
      4 cups of water
      1/2 pound white fish or shrimp (you can use both together)
      1 yellow onion, diced
      2 scallions, diced
      2 tbsp curly parsley, finely chopped
      2 tbsp cilantro, finely chopped
      1 green pepper, diced
      1 large tomato, diced
      3 tbsp vegetable oil
      1/4 cup peanuts, toasted and ground
      Achiote (annato) powder
      salt, pepper, cumin to taste

      In a large pan or skillet, prepare a refrito, by heating up the vegetable oil and sautéing both types of onions, pepper, tomato, cilantro and parsley. Season the refrito with salt, pepper and cumin to taste.

      In a food processor, combine the plantains with the water and process until smooth.

      Add the plantain mixture, and cook in medium low heat, stirring the mixture constantly.

      Add the toasted, ground peanuts to the mixture, and continue to cook for about 20-25 minutes, until the mixture thickens and turns golden brown.

      Add the fish or shrimp at the end depending of the

    4. Sa totoo lang, namamayagpag ang GMA at Abscbn teleseryes sa Africa. Kaya lang karamihan sa mga Abscbn seryes ay rerun ng mga last year shows, Dolce Amore, Pangako Sa Yo, Doble Kara, etc. , ang tanging bagong nabili (2017 serye) ay ang Magpahanggang Wakas. Yong mga GMA shows na nabili roon ay mga bago, marami na ang 2017 seryes na nabili

    2. 6:38, kapag ganyan lagi ang klase ng ibinebenta natin, di magtatagal baka mauwi rin tayo sa mga pangmadaling-araw na slot gaya ng 1 am or 2 am, parang ginawa sa mga kdrama para makapangunyapit pa ang mga ito roon at makarason na walang nanunuod sa kanila kasi dahil sa maaga masyadong sked. Never mind na wala ring nanunuod sa mga Koreano sa daytime kasi ayaw ng tao sa kanilang mga mukha
